There was a 24% year-on-year increase in the number of shoppers visiting Covent Garden London during December.
The area, which is home to numerous retailers as well as offices and other
commercial property space, attracted 4.59 million people last month, Property Week reports.
As a result, a number of retailers saw sales rise and brand director Bev Churchill said Covent Garden London was "thrilled" with the rise.
"We think our success is in part thanks to the euro-sterling exchange rate, which has brought more international visitors to the area," she was quoted as saying.
Footfall was also higher for 2009 as a whole. rising 5.34% year-on-year to 45.2 million.
The site, which is owned by Capital & Counties, consists of 750,000 sq ft of
commercial property for rent.
Capital & Counties purchased Covent Garden in 2006, and has since expanded it by making numerous acquisitions.
