Boris Johnson has called for changes to be made to the proposed redevelopment of Battersea Power Station.
The mayor of London said that the current plans for the £5.5 billion scheme do not fit in with the London Plan.
However, he praised the architecture of the Rafael Vinoly-designed proposal, which includes a range of retail
business property - one aspect that Mr Johnson has requested more information on.
In addition, he said that the present scheme is in need of a greater amount of affordable
residential property, but welcomed the open spaces that are included in the design.
"It is vital that we get the redevelopment of this site right," he stated, adding that it is "the biggest development opportunity remaining in London".
Earlier in the month, Property Week reported that 82% of people that visited an exhibition of the plans for the area approved of the scheme - a 22% increase on the figure from June 2009.
