Retailer John Lewis has announced plans to open another At Home
business property in Croydon.
The first of the stores in the format was opened in Poole last October and the latest comes as part of a £7.5 million investment.
Managing director of the firm Andy Street explained that between 30 and 50
commercial properties have been identified as potential sites.
And he noted that while a decision on a general rollout will not be made until next month, John Lewis was "delighted" to be able to take the opportunity to lease the Purley Way unit.
Leader of Croydon Borough Council Mike Fisher welcomed the move, commenting: "We hope that this will be a stepping stone towards a full line department store opening in our town centre at some point in the future."
This month, John Lewis was named as the official department store provider of the London 2012 Olympics.
