Two
commercial property firms have signed up to The Better Buildings Partnership, an initiative aimed at reducing the environmental impact of real estate in London.
Prupim and the Blackstone Group have both joined the scheme and will work towards cutting down the carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by the business properties in their portfolios.
Office space and other developments are responsible for a third of the capital's CO2 output and group director for design, development and environment at the London Development Agency Peter Bishop said that he is "delighted" the two businesses are participating in the partnership.
"The London Development Agency and London's commercial property owners are working together to find practical solutions that will cut their emissions and help London become a world leader in
commercial energy efficiency," he remarked.
Established in December 2007, the Better Buildings Partnership is working towards meeting the mayor of London's target of cutting carbon output by 60 per cent by 2025.
Other members include Land Securities, Grosvenor, Hermes and GE Real Estate.
