DSG International, owner of the Currys and PC World retailers, intends to open 33 more of its megastores across the UK during 2010.
In a trading update, the firm said it has identified a total of 70 retail
business property sites it plans to use to expand its megastore network and it also expects to roll-out 60 outlets based around its 2-in-1 format, which offer customers access to products it sells in PC World and Currys.
The changes are part of its ongoing transformation plan and chief executive John Browett stated altering the layout of its
commercial properties has resulted in a 20% average increase in gross profit uplifts.
He remarked: "The new store formats are popular with customers, particularly the Megastores and the combined 2-in-1 stores," adding that the next 12 months are set to be "another busy period" for the group.
The news prompted a small rise in DSG's share price, which was up 0.95% to 35.04p at 16:3 GMT.
