The average cost of a
residential property rose in April for the sixth consecutive month, a new report has found.
Conducted by the Land Registry, the research revealed that typical house prices saw an increase of 0.2% to £165,596 in the month, while values were up 8.5% on a year-on-year basis.
Those with residential mortgages in the north-east have experienced the biggest monthly price hike at 3.1%, although Londoners saw a 14.8% rise over the past year.
Values in Yorkshire and Humberside dropped, however, by 2.2%.
"The most up-to-date figures available show that during February 2010, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales rose by 49% to 40,502 from 27,190 in February 2009," the organisation added.
People can register title to land in England and Wales through the Land Registry, as well as record dealings with any documented assets, such as mortgages and sales.
