A number of UK business properties are set to be closed down as Nationwide Building Society plans to shut certain branches in the coming years.
The move will be made by 2012 and aims to avoid work being duplicated between offices situated in close proximity to each other.
Part of the plan also involves extending the
commercial property hub in Dunfermline, Scotland, which will become a dedicated administration centre.
And this should see the creation of 150 jobs, with other positions available in the organisation's offices in Swindon and Northampton.
However, as branches close across the country, there could also be the loss of a number of existing posts.
Director of Nationwide Matthew Wyles said it hoped to keep the presence of the Derbyshire Building Society branches, which the firm assisted during the recession.
"But it has become clear that we need to make a number of changes in order to sustain their future viability," he added.
Nationwide promises to invest profits back into the organisation to benefit its members, as it does not have shareholders to pay.
