Planning permission for a 270,000 sq ft
commercial property has been granted to Helical Bar.
The property investment and development company revealed plans for the large office at 1 Mitre Square in London, which were designed by Sheppard Robson.
Office and retail space will be included in the
business property and the site will be 20-storeys high.
Gerald Kaye, director of Helical Bar, said: "This is an exciting scheme with an excellent floor plate. The environment around the building will be much improved with a major upgrade of the public realm."
Mr Kaye added there is a limited supply of space in the current market and the "high spec" of this design should ensure there is plenty of interest from potential firms to occupy the building.
Helical Bar became a limited company in 1919, initially created to manufacture and sell reinforcing steel for the construction industry.
This side of the business was then sold to its management in 1986.
