Business property owners setting up firms in Birmingham have a role to play in tackling climate change, it has been revealed.
The Climate Change and Sustainability Cabinet Committee has been established to deal with green issues and it will assist Birmingham City Council with its Climate Change Action Plan.
A target of cutting carbon emissions by 60 per cent by 2026 was introduced by the council and the initiative hopes to aid this mission.
Commercial property owners may have a part to play in helping the body cut the overall energy bill of the city.
According to a spokesperson for the Department for Energy and Climate Change: "Not only will this help to make the city cleaner and greener but [it] will provide local business opportunities and set an example for the rest of the country to reduce emissions."
Councillor Paul Tilsely said Birmingham is now seen as a leader in environmental matters, not only in the UK but on an international level.
