Business property owners could be set to benefit from a new initiative, revealed by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg on June 29th.
The £1 billion Regional Growth Fund will come into force next year and could allow
commercial property owners the chance to bid for finance, if they can prove their proposal will meet set criteria.
Chris Gorman, spokesperson for the Forum of Private Business, says the scheme "can only be a good thing".
"It is some good news for businesses and it can only be a good thing that businesses are being offered support and money to develop their ideas," he continues.
Speaking about the government action to tackle the country's deficit, he states everybody will feel the effects of this move - even if businesses have nothing to do with the public sector.
The Regional Growth Fund aims to help those that heavily depend on public sector employment, Mr Clegg noted.
