Greene King is to take on a number of
commercial properties in the near future, it has emerged.
In its preliminary results for the 52 weeks ending May 2nd, the company revealed its plans for retail expansion and a move to business properties.
The company began brewing beer and operating pubs more than 200 years ago and was based in Bury St Edmunds.
It now plans to extend its retail base to include 1,100 outlets across the country within three to five years - an increase on the 888 current sites.
Chief executive Rooney Anand said: "We are today announcing plans to accelerate the pace of change and growth towards a more retail and branded focus."
The company revealed a record revenue of £984.1 million - a 3.1% rise since the previous year.
Mr Anand said this result shows the strength of the company, particularly during challenging times.
