Business property developers may be interested in proposals to simplify the planning and consent process.
Plans were revealed in a publication from the Penfold Review, which recommended red tape is cut so businesses and the government can use their resources more efficiently.
Commercial property builds can be confusing and the report looks at ways to keep local communities better informed of progressions.
Mark Prisk, minister for business, said: "Businesses involved in construction and development should not have to deal with a regime made more complicated through needless red tape and procedure."
Many others involved in the industry have welcomed the findings and believe the ideas are a positive step forward.
Andrew Whitaker, planning director at the Home Builders Federation, said the recommendations could also benefit the residential sector, with home builders facing lower costs and risks.
The Department for Business Innovation and Skills runs a number of initiatives - such as the Penfold Review - aimed at simplifying regulations.
