Owners of
business property still need to take action to ensure they comply with the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, one expert has advised.
The programme was introduced by the Labour government prior to it being replaced by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition in May but Harry Morrison of the Carbon Trust said it would still be "prudent" for
commercial property owners to make sure they meet efficiency standards.
"The Conservative Party has been supportive all along and indeed climate change is a key part of their policy agenda, so there is no reason to expect any changes to the CRC," he remarked.
Mr Morrison added that as the scheme has already begun it would be a "surprise" if the new administration made any alterations, but noted this cannot be ruled out completely, as many policies and programmes are presently under review.
It was introduced on April 1st and intends to raise awareness of carbon reduction in large enterprises and encourage them to make changes that will cut the UK's output of greenhouse gases.
