The largest urban regeneration project in the UK has been given a green light by the Wirral Council Planning Committee, which has approved planning permission for the Wirral Waters scheme.
Worth £4.5billion, the project is likely to impact upon the region's
commercial property market as 18 million sq ft of regeneration takes place and it is expected create more than 20,000 new jobs over three decades.
Business property owners in Birkenhead and Wallasey, as well as Wirral and the broader Liverpool City Region could see the economic fortunes of the areas being transformed by the massive project.
Commenting on the approval, Peel Holdings' development director Lindsey Ashworth said: "It is what the public wanted and what the area is crying out for. This is an historical day for the future of Wirral and the entire city region."
Liverpool's seal of approval for the project has already been delivered by the city's council leader Joe Anderson, who met with Jeff Green, leader of Wirral Council and Ms Ashworth today (August 4th).
