A new
commercial property development in Aberdeen will boost the city's economy, Scotland's first minister has claimed.
Speaking following the opening of a new £75 million hotel and office development, Alex Salmond said the site will be a "major contributor" to the financial health of the area, the Scotsman reports.
Part of the iQ development project being seen by the Hazeldene Group, the 185-room Park Inn in the city centre has created 50 new jobs for the local community.
And Mr Salmond said the opening is a "clear demonstration" that tourism in Scotland is continuing to contribute to sustainable economic development, despite the "very challenging times" the industry is facing.
The Park Inn brand is one of four operated by Carlson Hotels, Radisson's parent company.
Carlson operates 111 of the mid-scale hotels worldwide - including 26 in the UK - and has plans to open a further 56.
It also runs hotels under the Park Plaza, Country Inn & suites and Radisson brands.
