A
property development deal has been struck between the City of London Corporation and Exemplar Properties, it has emerged.
New
business property space will be created at the site of the former London Fruit and Wool Exchange.
The regeneration includes the creation of up to 30,000 sq metres of offices space at the site, which is owned by the City of London Corporation, as well as retail property outlets.
Director of Exemplar Properties Daniel Van Gelder said: "Plans will now be developed in close consultation with the local community and other stakeholders to ensure the proposals fully respect their surroundings."
The Spitalfields area has been undergoing
property refurbishment and regeneration works during the past ten years and it is claimed work on the London Fruit and Wool Exchange has been anticipated since the 1990s.
It was built back in 1929 and the interiors currently feature some of the original designs, including the floor and woodwork.
