Scottish Enterprise selling business sites across Scotland
Scottish Enterprise (SE) is hoping to raise £60m from the sale of at least 11 sites across Scotland, including Queen’s Road in Aberdeen and the Science and Technology Park at East Kilbride.
Money from the sales has been included in SE’s budget for the coming year but a spokeswomen denied there would be any significant impact if they did not achieve the values the agency wanted.
One property expert said the portfolio looked like a “firesale” and held out little hope of achieving the amount of money sought.
“It is not the best time to come to the market just now and getting full value for these sites will be very difficult,” he said.
But the SE spokeswoman denied the agency would have to accept offers well below the true value, even though she admitted the market was “challenging”.
“If the offer was a little under, then it may be we would consider it. However, if it was something 90% below, we have no problems holding on until we think we can get the true value,” she said.
Other sites on the list include Prospect Business Centre Dundee, the 60-acre Nova Technology Park Glasgow and land at Balornock in Glasgow.
“We constantly review our portfolio and this is part of it. It would be wrong to suggest that the funding of projects is totally dependent on the money from this sale.”
